Albana Koçiu, Minister of Health and Social Protection, joined the activity for the start of the tourist season, along with 300 doctors and nurses who would be stationed at the country’s 34 summer health clinics.
In her speech, Koçiu underlined the commitment of the Government and the Ministry of Health and Social Protection to ensure a safe and healthy tourist season for everyone. Measures have been implemented to ensure the safety of Albanian nationals and visitors during their summertime stay.
“There are 34 temporary health centers available and operational; the National Emergency is ready to serve; the Health Services Operator with all the challenging recruitment process is ready; the State Health Inspectorate with all the hygiene and sanitary measures is heading the task; The Institute of Public Health is prepared for the difficult task of disinfection, where we have added over 20 hectares from north to south in all the hot and hazardous locations”.
Minister Koçiu said: “It is not only the seasonal centers that respond to the entire flow of tourists and visitors, but we also have health centers and regional hospitals that support and assist in cases of emergency or when a more specialized service is needed. All structures are in full operation.”
The Ministry of Health and Social Protection has taken all necessary steps to support a tourism season that, based on all indicators, is expected to break all previous records in 2024 with an expected 10 million visitors. Tourism is a significant industry for the nation.
